Title: Electrical Machines: Driving the Global Economy into the Future
Abstract:Technological advancement is reshaping the global economy at an unprecedented pace. Electrification is a cornerstone of the energy transition, and the shift from fossil fuels to electricity is expected to accelerate in the coming decades. Electrical machines and electric drives have played a pivotal role in modern society and will continue to be fundamental to the emerging energy landscape. As economies become increasingly dependent on electricity, greater attention is being directed toward its generation and efficient utilization. At the demand side, electric motors and drives are so deeply embedded in our daily lives and industrial processes that it is difficult to imagine a world without them. This presentation will begin by reviewing the current status of the global energy transition and the growing role of electrification. It will then examine the key technological and economic challenges ahead and their implications for industrial development, energy systems, and the global economy. The presentation will conclude by exploring priorities for research, development, and innovation, and by outlining pathways through which industry and academia can work together to address emerging challenges and seize new opportunities in an increasingly electrified world.
